Legislation & Guidance

There are many stringent legal obligations that you must fulfil at commercial premises.

You must ensure that the person removing your waste is either a local council, registered carrier or holds a license to dispose of waste. You are responsible for ensuring that your waste is disposed of properly and must ask for proof from your waste contractor that they are an authorised person.

Sanitary Disposal

The approved code of practice for Regulation 21 of the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 advises that:

“in the case of water closets used by women, suitable means should be provided for the disposal of sanitary dressings”

Soap Dispensers

Regulation 21 of the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 states:

“washing facilities must include soap or other suitable means of cleaning”

Warm Air Dryers & Paper Dispensers

Regulation 21 of the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 states:

“washing facilities must include towels or other suitable means of drying”
